Well hello there, Starshine! My name is Emily and I’m a college student here at Central Michigan University looking to start my career in the music industry with PR and social media management. I’m a 21 year old Sagittarius with a love for all things pink, sparkly, and music related!
You may be reading this thinking, “Em, is blogging still a popular thing in 2021? Do people really still read these things?” and to be completely honest, I’m not too incredibly sure myself! But it’s fun and that’s what matters.
I was asked to start this blog for a class this semester in order to keep my portfolio in one place, so why not make it fun as I do, you know?
My love of music started at a very young age. My dad is a musician and so is his dad, and so on, and so on. So when little Emily was riding around in the car on her way to preschool, she wanted to listen to music like The Ramones and The Beatles over Disney Princess music or whatever kind of kids music was popular in the super early ’00s. Although now I do prefer the Disney Princess music over a lot of music, which I think is funny. Things have an interesting way of coming full circle sometimes.
I joined band in middle school and went 7 years performing with some of my closest friends in concert bands, marching band, and small ensembles at school festivals, and as much as I miss playing music, though, my interest now is really in the inner workings of the industry and creating in other ways.
